The influence of Tejana star Selena Quintanilla reached far beyond her native town of Corpus Christi, Texas, and at the time of her death, she was on the verge of English-language crossover and international stardom. Her death is a moment remembered by all her fans in Texas and throughout the world. Her legacy as La Reina de Tejano lives on.
VAO Publishing is currently soliciting submissions for La Reina, a creative volume dedicated to the life and work of Selena. We are looking for fiction, poetry, essays, memoirs, and other forms of creative non-fiction. Poetry should be limited to no more than three pages, prose to no more than 3,000 words. Works will be selected by a panel of editors looking for a sincere and original engagement with the art and life of Selena.
